Arugam Bay is a bay located in the arid zone of the Indian Ocean, on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka, and is a historical settlement in the ancient Batticaloa region.

Internationally renowned as one of the best beaches for surfing, Arugam Bay is full of enthusiastic local and foreign tourists. There is no other beach like this to slip on the waves. There are many good places to swim and bathe. It is ranked as one of the ten best-surfing destinations in the world. It has also hosted many international surfing competitions since 2004. The area of the bay is home to a large number of elephants and often travels between Lahugala and Kumana National Parks.
