Nilaveli is one of the most famous beaches outside the Southern Province. The war in the country and the tsunami of 2004 have diminished the popularity of this beautiful coastal area, but it has receded. As a result, Nilaveli has become a favorite destination for many. Nilaveli beach, about 16km north of Trincomalee town, is still as beautiful as ever.
The main reason why Nilaveli is so popular is because of its beauty and its amenities. With so many popular beaches crowded with people, it’s hard to really enjoy the beauty these days. On the other hand, it is not easy to find lodging in lesser-known coastal areas. Nilaveli is a good answer to both these questions. Nilaweli has no shortage of comfortable hotels and restaurants, although most are quiet, as most are still coming.
Pigeon Island is one kilometer away from the Nilaveli beach. Pigeon Island, one of the two marine parks in Sri Lanka, has the largest live coral reef in our country. Therefore Pigeon Island is a great place for diving and snorkeling.
